Nitrox Dive Calculators

Nitrox Dive Calculators

These Nitrox dive calculators are for informational purposes only and should not be used as a substitute for professional dive planning. It is important to consult with a qualified dive instructor, divemaster or your breathing gas supplier to determine your maximum operating depth for a specific dive.

For additional safety do NOT exceed a Partial Pressure of Oxygen of 1.4 and never exceed a PPO2 of 1.6.

For additional information on Nitrox and its use see our guide Scuba Diving: Air vs. Nitrox – A Comprehensive Comparison

Maximum Operating Depth based on Nitrox O² Percentage

This calculator will provide the Maximum Operating Depth, the maximum safe depth below which you should NOT descend. Going below this depth may induce Oxygen toxicity which can be fatal.

A PPO2 of 1.4 is the normal safe limit. Only use higher values as guide. Never exceed a value of 1.6

Maximum Nitrox Oxygen Percentage for a given Depth

This calculator will provide the Maximum Nitrox Oxygen percentage that should be used for a specific depth.

If you know the maximum depth you will be diving to then this will provide the maximum depth you can descend to before exceeding the maximum Partial Pressure of Oxygen. Going below this depth may induce Oxygen toxicity which can be fatal.

Maximum PPO2 for a given Depth & Nitrox Mix

This calculator will provide the Maximum Partial Pressure of Oxygen (PPO2) for a specific depth and Nitrox mix.

This calculator requires the maximum depth you will be diving to and the Nitrox mix you will be diving with.

Ensure that the Nitrox mix has a PPO2 of less than 1.4. PPO” of 1.4 is considered a safe PPO2 with a margin of error.

At no point exceed a PPO2 of 1.6 as exceeding this value can cause Oxygen Toxicity which can be fatal.

Disclaimer

The maximum operating depths calculated by these calculators are based on the percentage of oxygen in the Nitrox mix and the partial pressure of oxygen.

The figures provided calculated based on the PPO2, Maximum Depth and the Nitrox %age O² mix. However, there are other factors that can affect your maximum operating depth, Nitrox mix or PPO2, such as your individual physiology, the depth of the water, and the temperature of the water.

It is important to be aware of your own limits and to dive within your comfort zone. Always use caution and follow proper diving safety procedures.

  • This calculator is not intended for use by pregnant women or people with certain medical conditions.
  • It is important to use a dive computer that is compatible with the type of Nitrox mix you are using.
  • Always ascend slowly and make safety stops to avoid decompression sickness.

By using this calculator, you agree to assume all responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others while diving.
